Smaller models, less ceremony.

H Company introduced NeoMME on 3 September: 260-million and 800-million-parameter models with Apache 2.0 checkpoints. A single bidirectional transformer processes text and image patches. The release targets multilingual, multimodal retrieval, including visual documents.

This is retrieval infrastructure, not a replacement for every general-purpose assistant. The distinction is rather the point. A business searching its own reports may value a compact specialist more than another model that can discuss everything at considerable length.

Try it against your existing search on real scans, tables and mixed-language documents. Measure missed answers and operating cost. A benchmark is an invitation to test, not permission to stop thinking.
