Google tests a Flipkart checkout inside Gemini
Some shoppers in India can buy selected phones and accessories without leaving the conversation. Other users still see ordinary listings.

Google tests a Flipkart checkout inside Gemini
Selected Indian shoppers can buy phones and accessories inside Google’s AI interface. Wider access is reportedly planned for October, but Google has not confirmed the date.
Tap Buy and a Flipkart-branded checkout opens inside Gemini or Google’s AI Mode. The trial covers a small selection of products, including smartphones, electronics and mobile accessories. The chat window has found the till.
This is not a checkout for everything Google recommends. Amazon products appeared alongside Flipkart listings in the test examined, but without the same purchase button.
A trial, with a few unknowns
Google previously demonstrated a different, Google-hosted checkout using its Universal Commerce Protocol, a standard for connecting AI agents with retailers. It has not explained which technology runs this particular test.
Flipkart is already one of Google’s Indian shopping partners. Google also invested about $350 million in the Walmart-owned company in 2024.
A broader rollout is reportedly planned for later in October. Google says it regularly tests new features, but has not confirmed that timetable or the details of this experiment.

CONTROL Resonant reaches GeForce NOW
Stream the game without a 100GB installation. The membership bundle ends on 27 September; Googlebooks support is still to come.
The bundle runs through 27 September and requires a 12-month Ultimate subscription. Existing access to GeForce NOW does not automatically qualify someone for a copy.
Ultimate members get what Nvidia calls RTX 5080-class cloud performance, with DLSS 4, ray tracing and Reflex. Nvidia advertises up to 5K streaming with high dynamic range, though that depends on having a supported device.
Try it for a day
A day pass provides a shorter way to test premium streaming. Its cost can count towards a first monthly membership, so the annual bundle is not the only route in.
Support for Googlebooks, Google’s new laptop category combining ChromeOS and Android, is coming soon. The laptops begin arriving in the autumn, with streaming availability details still to follow.
The wider games list needs a little care: a store release date does not guarantee the game will reach GeForce NOW at the same moment.
What to watch
TWIST tests whether AI memory knows when to object
The proposed benchmark penalises unnecessary warnings as well as missed contradictions. Its early results reveal a trade-off that recall scores can hide.
On a human-checked set of 161 items, retrieval-based systems caught 76–97% of real contradictions. They also incorrectly flagged 16–43% of safe drafts. Finding more problems is not much help if the problems were never there.
A deployed system focused on coherence made the opposite trade-off. It left safe drafts alone 98–100% of the time, but caught only 42% of genuine contradictions.
The cost of a false alarm
TWIST pairs each intervention test with a similar-looking example that should be left alone. A system cannot earn a good score simply by objecting to everything.
Its proposed tests cover changing beliefs, checking drafts, retaining the history of an answer and controlling sensitive recall. With the full conversation supplied, calibrated models nearly solved the draft-checking task, pointing to gaps in retrieving the right evidence.
These are preprint results, not general performance ratings for AI assistants. No tested setup scored strongly across catching contradictions, avoiding false alarms and attribution together.
